Love and Friendship: Georgian-Inspired Clasped Hands Pendant

Love and Friendship: Georgian-Inspired Clasped Hands Pendant
Love, Family, Friendship.
Modeled after a Georgian clasp from our own collection, this high-karat gold pendant features two right hands clasped together — a deeply human gesture of connection.
The motif of clasped hands has ancient roots. In Roman times, the dextrarum iunctio — the joining of right hands — symbolized the bond between two individuals, whether through marriage, family, or friendship. Centuries later, the sentimental Georgians and Victorians revived the motif, exchanging hand jewels as tokens of love and loyalty. Yet examples of joined hands remain relatively rare — most surviving pieces depict a single hand.
We cast our original Georgian clasp to preserve its refined details, then reimagined it as a pendant in luminous 18k gold, suspended from a hinged bail with a star motif — an homage to Georgian-era chains. Each finely rendered hand wears a ruffled cuff and a ring: a vivid green tsavorite garnet on one pinky, and a deep pink ruby on the forefinger of the other hand. This pendant is larger than most period hand jewels, with a satisfying weight and presence.
Wear this enduring talisman as a daily reminder to treasure love, friendship, and family, and the enduring beauty of human connection.
