Antique Scarce Early 19th Century French Bi-Color Gold Large Watch Key

Antique Scarce Early 19th Century French Bi-Color Gold Large Watch Key
Rare, Survivor.
Beautiful and rare French large gold watch key — with intricate floral and foliate details rendered in chased and stippled bi-colored gold (rosy yellow with green highlights).
Bail is on a swivel mechanism. Gorgeous patina.
Looks amazing on a long chain.
Marked with French ram’s head (for gold assayed in Paris, 1819-38) and maker’s mark.
18k gold, metal (in the key shaft)
Dimensions and weight:
● 48 mm long
● 29 mm wide
● 13 mm deep
● 5.6 grams
Period: Georgian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. This piece has been in our personal collection for many years. We recently noticed a small fissure to the gold on the interior of the circular part of the key, beneath the bail; it is smooth to the touch and not visible when worn. We find this to be acceptable wear considering the age of this key. Please ask for photos, while we work on adding one to this listing. The bail has slight movement or give around the rivet, which is normal. We have left the original patina intact, cleaning only with a soft cloth.
