Antique Victorian Rock Crystal Heart Pendant Brooch with Original Box

Antique Victorian Rock Crystal Heart Pendant Brooch with Original Box
Romantic, Refined.
There is so much we love about this English beauty! A heart, rock crystal, a giardinetto motif, the versatility of a pendant and brooch, and even its original fitted box!
This beautiful rock crystal heart features a delicate giardinetto motif, with a single flower rising from a ruby-set basket and graceful cascades of foliage on either side. A border of sparkling rose-cut diamonds follows the outline of the heart. The giardinetti motif, an expression of love and affection, was popular in the 18th century and enjoyed a revival in the late Victorian period — and indeed, this beauty dates to the 1890s.
The transparency of the rock crystal, together with the airy, openwork floral design, gives the jewel a wonderful sense of lightness. The rock crystal heart and ruby-set basket are mounted in gold, while the diamonds are set in silver over gold, characteristic of the period. Wear it as either a brooch or a pendant. The rock crystal glows when light passes through it just so, and we especially appreciate how it takes on the color of whatever lies beneath it. This jewel is as versatile as it is meaningful and beautiful.
And the cherry on top? This jewel comes in its original blue velvet-lined, fitted box from the London jewelry firm of C. J. Hill.
