Antique French XL Gold and Faceted Glass Round Locket

Antique French XL Gold and Faceted Glass Round Locket
Classic, Unexpected.
A quintessentially French locket, circa 1900. Over the years, we have had a few lockets of this type — always a joy to find and wear. This particular example, however, is a standout; its quiet beauty immediately caught our eye in a display of far sparklier jewels. It is by far the largest of this kind of glass locket we have encountered. Bold, yet airy and light, thanks to the faceted beveled glass panels.
The gold frame is embellished with a reed-and-ribbon motif, a design popular in French Neoclassical decorative arts and traditionally associated with strength through unity.
Unscrew the bail at the top of the frame to release the glass panels. Place a personal memento inside, or leave unadorned for a minimalist elegance. We think a pet portrait would be just perfect! Or a pressed flower. Or a tiny love note.
Wear on a French sautoir — chic always.
Chain shown is not included
Marked with French eagle’s head.
18k gold, glass.
Dimensions/weight:
● 49 mm long, including screw-on bail
