What a delightful package — a red leather heart-shaped box, opening to reveal a set of petite French Art Nouveau cufflinks and buttons, circa 1900, fashioned in silver as wonderfully dimensional marguerite (daisy) flowers.

The marguerites retain their original, natural oxidation, beautifully highlighting the relief and detail of the flowers. In the language of flowers, the French marguerite symbolizes true love, loyalty, and joy. How appropriate that the accompanying original box is a heart — another added symbol of love.

The box is lined in champagne silk and velvet and fitted for the cufflinks and buttons. It is a lovely object in its own right, perfect for display on a jewelry tray.

Marked with the French boar’s head and maker’s mark. Box bears an imprinted monogram of “S.M.” on the front.
