We do love an urn anything in jewelry — as well as lapis and wax seals. So, imagine our delight to discover this large carved lapis urn, accented with gold, surmounting a bloodstone wax seal!
There is so much detail — from the gold handles to the applied decorative wirework at the base of the urn, present on all four sides. This pendant is tactile, sculptural, and 3 dimensional; it even stands upright on its base — very reminiscent of 19th century French porcelain and gilded vases!
This rich, saturated lapis urn is so deliciously smooth and soothing to hold. Lapis is a stone of wisdom and spiritual enlightenment, and we can understand why!
We adore this worn on a chain, suspended from one of the gold “handles” — a French sautoir or watch chain would be perfection!
