Antique French Art Nouveau “Mimosa” Flower-of-the-Month Gold and Enamel Pendant (February)

Antique French Art Nouveau “Mimosa” Flower-of-the-Month Gold and Enamel Pendant (February)
Promise, Hope.
Imagine emerging from a long winter into an abundance of golden yellow mimosa blossoms, their fragrance perfuming the February air — a promise of spring around the corner. In the south of France, the Route du Mimosa celebrates these blooms each February and March, annual symbols of hope, resilience, and renewal.
We cannot take you to the Côte d’Azur, but we can bring you this French Mimosa pendant. It originates from the popular “flower-of-the-month” tradition of the early 20th century, where each month was paired with its symbolic flower. Here, the month is February (Février), and the chosen flower is the mimosa — rendered with remarkable, dimensional, sculptural detail, front and back. A border of blue guilloché enamel provides a luminous frame to the warm gold.
This jewel carries special meaning for those born in February or wishing to commemorate an event in that month — and of course, it makes a perfect choice for Valentine’s Day.
Marked with the French eagle’s head and a partial maker’s mark. Mimosa is engraved on the edge of the pendant, adjacent to Février.
18k gold, enamel.
Dimensions and weight:
● 25.3 mm long (including bail)
● 19.5 mm wide
● 1.6 mm deep
● 3.6 grams
Period: Art Nouveau (early 20th century)/Edwardian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.
