(SOLD) Antique French Victorian Gold and Sapphire Heart Slide Locket
Sentimental, Elegant.
This is one of our favorite locket finds: a large high karat heart is set with a clover of three natural sapphires of a very fine gem blue shade and a tiny diamond spark. This locket slides open to reveal a beveled mirror on one side and a piece of black fabric on the other — each removable if so desired. Both sides of the locket retain their rims to accommodate photos. The reverse of the locket is engraved with a gorgeous scrolling monogram, adding to the considerable charm of this piece.
This is so very French, circa 1890/1900, and we think it is the perfect statement size — large, but not overpowering. So classic, so enduring, in our favorite sentimental motif — the heart. We love it worn long or short. We love it, period. A wonderful love token (or self-gift).
Chains and star pendant shown are not included.
Marked with French eagle’s head and a series of numbers on the bail.
