Antique Edwardian Matched Pair of Diamond & Platinum Buckle Brooches -- Signed Marcus & Co., New York

Antique Edwardian Matched Pair of Diamond & Platinum Buckle Brooches -- Signed Marcus & Co., New York
Signed, Sentimental.
We are pleased to offer a rare, intact matched pair of buckle brooches from Marcus & Co., handcrafted in platinum and set with old European and a few old mine–cut diamonds totaling approximately 2.25 carats. The diamonds are bright and well-matched, individually set in platinum with a subtle S-curve flourish between each stone—no millegrain or filigree, just streamlined platinum work executed with precision and restraint.
When we discovered these, we immediately saw the styling possibilities: one on each sleeve cuff, on opposing shirt collar points, or as strong and intentional lapel adornments. They are equally striking worn at the waist or shoulder straps of a dress, or on a ribbon at the neck or wrists.
As modern and architectural as they feel, the buckle motif was deeply sentimental in Victorian and Edwardian jewelry—signifying loyalty, devotion, and enduring bonds. With a pair, one can imagine they may once have shared between two people: a matched emblem of their connection.
Marcus & Co. was among the finest New York ateliers of the period, and signed Marcus pieces remain consistently sought after. A signed pair that has stayed together for more than a century is especially scarce — particularly in such excellent Edwardian condition and in a meaningful motif that transitions seamlessly to the 21st century.
All around, swoon-worthy.
Safety catches present.
