Antique Early 20th Century Gold and Diamond Dragon Hinged Bangle

$2,850.00
Sold

Bold, Figural.

We spotted this fierce dragon (we like to think this one is a she) among a crowded jewelry display in Spain. No doubt, this dragoness is a standout. We have seen other dragon and fantastical beasts as brooches, cufflinks, and of course converted pendants and charms, but we think this is the first dragon as bangle we have found. Note how the body of the dragon forms the hoop of the bangle, with a sinuous flourish at the center.

It is quite possible that she has origins in Catalonia, where St. George is the patron saint and dragons abound.

Slender, yet impactful. We think this one packs enough of a punch to render a stack superfluous.

Bangle hinges open at the side, closes properly, and has a safety chain.

Shown on a 6 inch wrist.

Unmarked.

14k gold, diamond.

Dimensions and weight:

● 60 mm long x 46 mm wide

● 7.3 mm deep (at deepest part of the ornament)

● .30 ctw diamond (old cuts)

● 10 grams

Period: Early 20th century (Edwardian/Art Nouveau)

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.

*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
