Antique Diamond Pansy French Hinged Bangle (1.8 CTW)

$5,850.00

Sentimental, Sparkling.

What a special find. This jewel harmoniously blends two eras of craftsmanship, spanning nearly 100 years and two places of origin— a Georgian diamond pansy, likely of English origin, circa 1820, is mounted onto an Edwardian-era French knife-edge bangle with rose cut diamond studded shoulders, circa 1905. The result is one-of-a-kind and gorgeous.

This pansy is rendered in a distinctively Georgian shape and aesthetic, formed by five deep antique rose cut diamond “petals” set over foil in closed back settings. In the 19th century secret language of flowers, the pansy — derived from the French “pensée” (meaning “thought’) — symbolized loving thoughts. They were tokens of affection and remembrance given to sweethearts, family, or friends. The diamonds in turn symbolize eternity. Perfection!

This bangle is one of our favorite, recent discoveries.

Shown on a wrist just under 6 inches (at 5.875 inches).

Safety chain present. The bangle hinges wide open, for easy on and off, especially for larger hands.

Gold color is that shade of yellow with a touch of rose so often seen in antique French gold.

Ring shown is not included.

Marked with French owl mark and French opposed boar and eagle heads mark (introduced in 1905).

18k gold, silver, diamond.

Dimensions and weight:

● 54.4 mm x 44.5 mm inside diameters; approximately 15.5 cm/6.1 inches inside circumference

● 18.6 mm wide (at the pansy central motif)/bangle itself tapers from 4.8 mm wide to 3.3 mm wide

● 9 mm deep (at deepest portion, at the pansy)/ bangle itself tapers from 5 mm deep to 4.2 mm deep

● 1.8 ctw diamond (approximately 1.5 ctw on the 5 pear shaped diamonds and .30 ctw on the remaining rose cut diamonds); diamonds are in H/I color range and mixed VS/SI/I clarities.
