Once an amulet of protection, by the 18th century, the witch’s heart evolved into a sentimental symbol of “bewitchment” by love. This late Georgian brooch is a coveted, rarer example, with two, entwined hearts, surmounted by a crown — set with old cut mine and antique rose cut diamonds.

This double heart, circa 1800, is so romantic, symbolizing a committed union — perhaps a token of love to a betrothed or a spouse.

We love this pinned to any garment (think lapel, pocket, neckline) solo or in a grouping with other sentimental brooches. Or, wear it at the throat on a ribbon choker. At buyer’s option, we can convert to a pendant.

The brooch is crafted of silver, with gold fittings — as well as a gold accent at the base of the crown. The diamonds are set closed backed.
