Coveted, Classic.

We discovered this early 19th century beauty on the very last day of our recent buying trip to Paris. It is not often we find a seven diamond half hoop ring set with cushiony old mine cuts in silver cut down collets — and with open backs! Feel free to wear this daily, as there is no need to avoid water with the open backs — such a bonus for an early ring. We had to swoop it up for you!

We love the “spread” of the diamond face (spanning the width of the finger) and the characterful old mine cuts, with their high crowns and open culets. The rose cut half hoop is more commonly found. We could not resist the old miners.

We would love to see this stacked with other hoops or half hoops, as those ladies of the early 19th century would have done! Or, try stacking with more modern-day bands, such as our Vintage Platinum and Diamond Eternity Band, with Baguette Diamonds (shown, not included).

For similar diamond half hoops, see Georgian Jewellery 1714 to 1830, by Ginny Reddington Dawes, with Olivia Collings, at page 135.

Marked (later) with French owl and swan.

18k gold, silver, diamond.

Dimensions and weight:

● Ring face tapers from 4.8 mm at the center to 3.2 mm at the side stones.

● Diamonds: .60 ctw (center diamond .22 ct, K/L color, SI clarity; remaining diamonds K/L color, mixed clarities).

● 2.4 grams

● Ring size 5.5 U.S.

Period: Late Georgian (possibly very Early Victorian)

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. Under 10x magnification, we can see that there is a notable scratch at/near the table of one of the end stones, a very small scratch at/near table of the center stone and some light scratches elsewhere (all normal and acceptable wear, in our opinion, for a ring of this age).

*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
