(SOLD) Antique Victorian XL Rock Crystal Ball Pendant with Coiled Snake

Sold

Reserved for H./Do Not Purchase Unless You are H.

Spellbinding, Talismanic.

A magical, mystical rock crystal ball is cut on an extra large scale, entwined by a gem-set gold snake, a potent symbol of love in the Victorian era. The snake is adorned with rose cut diamond eyes and a glow-y amethyst cabochon. The generously sized bail is detailed with rose cut diamonds and blue enamel. The snake is wrapped snugly around the crystal, yet it is detachable if desired, allowing the crystal ball to be worn unadorned. A powerful statement piece. Wear this on a long antique chain, or keep it close to your heart at the décolletage.

Chain shown is not included.

Marked 18, unidentified maker’s mark, and later, post-1950 London import gold mark for 585.

14k/15k gold, rock crystal, diamond, amethyst, enamel.

Dimensions and weight:

●       45 mm long, with bail

●       32 mm diameter

●       60.5 grams total, 12.5 grams snake only

Period: Victorian

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. The large rock crystal shows internal inclusions and age-commensurate wear. At some point, the snake was likely riveted to the ball. We believe the imperfections contribute to the beauty and mystery of this antique piece.
