(SOLD) Antique Victorian Grand Tour Etruscan Revival Gold and Turquoise "ROMA" Locket, with Doves
Gorgeous Grand Tour Etruscan Revival locket, circa 1860s, embellished with fine wirework and a large “bulla” inspired bail. A dome of pavé turquoise in a crown setting graces one side — and on the other, our favorite “ROMA” in raised lettering. Lovely patina to the gold, vibrant color to the turquoise.
Bonus element? The pair of sculptural doves perched at the top of the locket. Perhaps a reference to the doves of Pliny or a pair of lovebirds — either way, we absolutely adore.
The locket opens via a side hinge to reveal an empty glazed locket compartment; simply lift off the rim to insert a personal memento.
Wear this displaying the turquoise or the ROMA as the mood strikes.
