(SOLD) Antique Regional Spanish Gold and Diamond Navette Ring

$0.00
Sold

This eye-catching ring is an example of regional jewelry of Spain. In the shape of a large navette (think great finger coverage), set with dark, glinty diamonds this jewel will draw compliments, for sure. We love the scale and intriguing negative spaces — large, but lacy and airy. Look closely to see the lovely hand engraved detailing on the reverse and on the shoulders!

A similar example of this kind of ring from Salamanca can be seen in a catalog from a 1984/85 exhibition on “Joyas Populares” at the Museo Arqueológico Nacional in Madrid. We in fact acquired this ring in Madrid, and we date this example conservatively to the early 19th century.

Unmarked.

At least 14k gold, diamond.

Dimensions and weight:

● 31 mm long x 17 mm wide (ring face)

● 6.2 mm tapering to 3.7 mm wide (band)

● 5 mm deep (at deepest point)

● 6.7 grams

● 7.25 to 7.5 ring size (US) (sizing is approximate, given the off-round shape of the band)

Period: 19th century (see above)

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. Note that the band is slightly off round — from loving wear or from an old re-sizing.

*For deliveries outside the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
